About the Journal
EDITORIAL NOTE
Welcome to this maiden issue of KASU International Journal of Social Science Education (KIJSOSE). An international peer-reviewed journal of the Department of Social Science Education, Faculty of Education, College of Humanities, Education, and Law of the Kaduna State University (KASU), Kaduna, Nigeria.
Our mission is to promote interdisciplinary exchange by encouraging scholarly collaboration across the social sciences, education, and allied disciplines through high-quality, up-to-date, and original research papers. We hope to bridge knowledge gaps by encouraging empirical, theoretical, and review-based studies that address contemporary educational and social issues.
The maiden edition launched in print, and the online version provides a unique opportunity for national and international readers, researchers, and contributors to disseminate their research expertise and findings. The editorial board will continue to make progress on the journal’s visibility and international rankings in subsequent editions. It is our prayer that KIJSOSE will continue to serve the
academic community at home and abroad, exceptionally. Furthermore, the editorial team acknowledges the efforts of all contributors to articles published herein and of others who helped make this edition a reality.
Finally, we appreciate the efforts of the university authority, especially the vice chancellor. Professor Musa Abdullahi and the entire management team for providing an enabling environment and for their contributions to research efforts. We also congratulate the Faculty of Education for having this international journal.

ABOUT THE JOURNAL
KASU International Journal of Social Science Education (KIJSOSE) is a product of the Department of Social Science Education, Faculty of Education, Kaduna State University [KASU], Kaduna, Nigeria. The peer-reviewed journal facilitates knowledge sharing by providing a credible platform for scholars, authors, and researchers in social science education and related fields to disseminate original research outcomes. KIJSOSE promotes the advancement of scholarship in Nigeria and beyond through ethical publication standards and international editorial engagement. The purpose is to contribute to existing knowledge in social science education and related disciplines.
Goals of KIJSOSE
1. Facilitate knowledge sharing by providing a credible platform for scholars, authors, and researchers in social science education and related fields to disseminate original research findings.
2. Promote interdisciplinary exchange by encouraging scholarly collaboration across the social sciences, education, and allied disciplines represented in the journal’s published contents and editorial structure.
3. Improve research policies and practices by publishing methodologically sound studies that strengthen educational research, assessment, curriculum, and evidence-based practice.
4. Support the advancement of scholarship in Nigeria and beyond through rigorous peer review, ethical publication standards, and international editorial engagement.
Objectives
- Contribute to existing knowledge in social science education and related disciplines through high-quality scholarly publications.
- Bridge knowledge gaps by encouraging empirical, theoretical, and review-based studies that address contemporary educational and social issues.
- Support the development of effective educational policies and practices through research-based evidence.
- Foster professional development through research, innovation, critical inquiry, and dissemination of best practices in teaching and learning.
- Promote academic growth and intellectual development among scholars, researchers, practitioners, and students within and outside Nigeria.
Ethical Statement
Plagiarism, impersonation, falsification, fabrication of data, and other forms of publication misconduct will not be entertained in KIJSOSE. All manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and not under review elsewhere. Each submission is subject to plagiarism screening, with only manuscripts with a similarity index of no more than 15 per cent eligible for consideration.
Authors are responsible for ensuring the originality, authenticity, and ethical integrity of their work, including proper citation, accurate reporting of data, and respect for research ethics in the conduct and presentation of studies.
Editorial Policy on Cover Page
Title Page Requirements
The first page of the manuscript should contain:
- Title of the paper.
- Full names of all authors, with surname written first.
- Department, faculty, and institution of affiliation of each author.
- Email addresses of all authors.
- Phone numbers of all authors.
Abstract Page
The second page of the manuscript should contain:

- Title of the paper.
- Abstract not exceeding 250 words.
- Four to six keywords.
Manuscript Requirements
- Manuscripts must be original and unpublished and must not be under review elsewhere.
- Manuscripts should be written in the English language.
- Submission should be in Microsoft Word format (.doc or .docx).
- Manuscripts should use Times New Roman, font size 12.
- Manuscripts should be prepared with single line spacing.
- The full manuscript should not exceed 20 pages, including references.
- Charts, diagrams, figures, pictures, maps, and equations should be numbered serially; table titles should appear above tables, while titles for charts, diagrams, figures, pictures, maps, and equations should appear below them.
- Both in-text citations and the reference list should conform to APA 7th edition.
Preference
Preference will be given to manuscripts that demonstrate the following:
- Strong research methodology and clear analytical procedures.
- Significant findings that contribute meaningfully to knowledge and practice in social science education and related fields.
- Originality, relevance, and scholarly clarity consistent with the journal’s academic standards.
Editorial Policy for Manuscript Submission
- KIJSOSE accepts manuscripts relevant to social science education and cognate disciplines represented within the journal’s scope.
- All submissions must comply with the journal’s formatting, ethical, and referencing requirements.
- All manuscripts are subject to editorial screening, plagiarism check, and peer review before a publication decision is made.
- Manuscripts should be sent electronically to the journal email indicated in the attached issue.
Submission Requirements
Authors are to submit:
- An electronic copy of the manuscript in Microsoft Word format (.doc or .docx).
- Evidence of payment of the non-refundable review fee.
- The manuscript through the journal email: edu.ng, as stated in the attached journal.
Manuscript Guidelines
- Manuscripts should not exceed 20 pages or a maximum of 7000 words, including references.
- Font style should be Times New Roman, size 12.
- Line spacing should be single.
- The manuscript should include the following core elements as indicated in the journal guidelines: abstract, keywords, introduction, literature review, methodology, results/findings, discussion, conclusion, recommendations, and references.
Editorial Policy on Assessment
- All submitted manuscripts will undergo editorial and peer assessment to determine quality, originality, relevance, and compliance with journal requirements.
- Manuscripts will be screened for plagiarism, and only submissions with acceptable similarity levels will proceed.
- Expert review will be used to ensure scholarly quality and relevance of accepted papers.

- Title page.

Editorial Policy for Conceptual Papers
- Introduction: The statement of the problem is subsumed under the introduction.
- Review related concepts and critical analysis, organized with relevant subheadings to facilitate a clear and logical presentation of ideas.
- Conclusion: summarise key findings and implications.
- Suggestions provide actionable insights or future directions.
- References
Editorial Policy for Theoretical Papers
- Introduction: Context, problem statement, objectives, and significance of the research are all subsumed under the introduction.
- Literature Review: Related theories, prior applications, and critical analysis.
- Theoretical Framework: Detailed discussion of the theory, providing strong reasoning and evidence to support theoretical claims.
- Argument Development: Core propositions and reasoning.
- Application or Illustration: How the theory works in practice.
- Discussion, implications, strengths, and limitations of the theory.
- Conclusion, summary, and future research directions.
- References.
Scope of Articles
The KIJSOSE is a journal of social science education published by the Department of Social Science Education, Kaduna State University. Its published contents and editorial composition indicate openness to scholarship in social science education and related educational, social, and interdisciplinary fields.
Assessment and Publication Fees
KIJSOSE operates a two-stage fee structure in the attached issue:
- Review fee: N7,000, non-refundable, payable upon submission.
- Publication fee: N25,000, payable after acceptance.
